Our School

Academics

We believe that learning should be a joyful and engaging endeavor! In every class, students are challenged to write, inquire, collaborate, organize, and/or read, also known as the WICOR framework. For our work in this area, Antioch Middle has achieved AVID school-wide certification.

As a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) school, we understand that learning how to apply knowledge helps our students in these vital categories.

No two students are the same, and our course offerings help us challenge each student in meaningful ways. To learn more about how we accomplish this, visit our Academics page

Exploratory

Middle school is an amazing time of discovery! Our Exploratory course offerings are a part of the core curriculum at Antioch Middle and are intentionally designed to expose students to new learning and engage them in their areas of interest. Our courses include fine arts, physical education, STEM, coding and AVID, a program that supports college readiness.

Student Life

Antioch Middle is intentional in building a strong sense of belonging because we know that when students and staff know they are cared for, they can be inspired to do their best work. We value a diverse and respectful community.

To this end, every student and staff member is not only an Antioch Bear but is also selected to be a part of one of four Houses. Houses provide students the chance to bond with a smaller group of peers and staff members they otherwise may not have the chance to interact with and earn House Points through meeting or exceeding expectations.

In Homeroom, we begin every day with a Morning Meeting with to center ourselves for the work of learning. Every month, we also spend extra time in this group to develop social-emotional learning competencies and check in individually during our Navigation process.

Every Antioch Middle student can try out for a wide variety of team-based athletics. Our coaches are a part of our school staff and are committed to helping our Bears succeed as both scholars and athletes.

Service to Others

At Antioch Middle, students apply their scholarship, skill, and sportsmanship to understanding the world around them and responding as courageous and compassionate global citizens.

Every student engages in interdisciplinary units of study that culminate in real-world projects that solve problems or serve others. We understand that these connections are what make learning meaningful now and prepare students for future success. Learn more at our Service to Others page.
