Antioch Middle: A School with Intention

Antioch Middle is intentional in building a strong sense of belonging because we know that when students and staff know they are cared for, they can be inspired to do their best work. We value a diverse and respectful community.

To this end, every student and staff member is not only an Antioch Bear, but is also selected to be a part of one of four Houses: Polar House, Grizzly House, Glacier House, or Panda House. Each House is divided into smaller House Families that meet every day to help develop self-management and relationship skills, create personal plans for success, and hone technology skills that are critical for success in school and life. Students have daily opportunities to earn House Points that they can use for supplies, snacks, or events and that count toward whole-school House competitions. May the best House win at the end of the year!

AMS embraces Restorative Practices in everything we do. We know that students will make mistakes as they grow and that how they respond to these situations is most important. Every adult is trained in supporting students from a restorative perspective and helping them repair harm when it occurs. This does not excuse misbehavior; on the contrary, it holds students strongly accountable to learning from it.

Every Antioch Middle student can try out for a wide variety of team-based athletics: soccer, volleyball, football, track, wrestling, cheerleading, and basketball. Our coaches are a part of our school staff and are committed to helping our Bears succeed as scholars and athletes.

Courageous & Compassionate Global Citizens

At Antioch Middle, students apply their scholarship, skill, and sportsmanship to understanding the world around them and responding as courageous and compassionate global citizens.

Every student chooses a Club that meets periodically during the school day to engage each other around a shared interest and serve others in the community.

AMS students can also serve as leaders on House Council, Peer Court, Student Newspaper, and Yearbook. Their vision today is the foundation for their future success.
