Engaging & Inspiring Students Everyday

We believe that learning should be a joyful and engaging endeavor! In every class, students are challenged to write, inquire, collaborate, organize, and/or read (WICOR). For our work in this area, Antioch Middle has achieved AVID school-wide certification.

No two students are the same, and our course offerings help us challenge each student in meaningful ways. Students can qualify for Honors Math (Grades 6 and 7), Honors English (Grades 6, 7, and 8), GATE courses (Grades 6, 7, and 8), Young Scholars of Nashville courses (Grades 6, 7, and 8), and high school credit Physical Science, Spanish I, and Integrated Math I courses (Grade 8).

Our faculty includes co-teaching teams and specialists who are experts in providing support for students with a variety of learning needs, including English Learner instruction, Exceptional Education inclusion and resource courses, and occupational, physical, and speech therapy.

During daily WIN (What I Need) class students have opportunities to strengthen core reading or mathematics skills, develop English language skills, deepen knowledge in one of our Exploratory course subjects, participate in enrichment study topics, or participate in our GATE gifted program.

Every AMS student participates in an interdisciplinary unit of study four times per year. As a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) school, we understand that learning how to apply knowledge helps develop our students into critical thinkers and problem-solvers. The Antioch Middle STEAM Lab offers students the opportunity to extend their learning with hands on activities that feature collaboration with peers across grade levels and with professionals in our community. Through the STEAM Lab, students have gained clarity on mathematical concepts through hands-on learning, connected historical themes to current events, and utilized their writing skills to make their voices heard.
