About Us

Our Mission

To work in community, to provide a climate of care, and to challenge every student to deeper levels of learning.

Our Vision

To make every day a great day of learning.

Our Motto

Community, Care, and Challenge: Yes, we are AMS Bears!

Our Core Values

  • Community: We work together to learn and achieve more than we can by ourselves.
    • How We Do This: Academic collaboration, Staffulty teams, seeking feedback from a wide array of people, partnerships that support the school
  • Care: We treat every person with kindness, celebrate diverse experiences, and honor those who serve by leading us.
    • How We Do This: Advisory character development, assets-based instruction, restorative practices, robust student support services, heritage celebrations, school-wide behavior expectations
  • Challenge: We take responsibility for the things in our control. We believe we can learn, grow, and make a positive impact and we actively seek ways to make that happen.
    • How We Do This: House Points for preparedness, daily lesson internalization, reflection and goalsetting, Exploratory, Honors, and high school credit courses, clubs and athletics

Our Commitments

Antioch Middle teachers, staff, and administrators commit to:

  • Fostering community in each classroom and caring for every student holistically.
  • Setting challenging expectations for achievement and teaching students effective strategies for learning.
  • Adjusting how they teach based on individual student needs.
  • Providing feedback to students and contacting families if any assessment grade is lower than a 70.
  • Contacting families to check on absent students.
  • Being consistent with our expectations, fair in our approach, and restorative in our relationships.
  • Recognizing and rewarding progress and achievement

Antioch Middle families commit to:

  • Ensuring my child is in dress code (collared shirt and khaki-style pants/shorts/skirt) before they leave the house.
  • If my child has a mobile phone, reminding them to either put it in their locker all day at school or leave it at home.
  • Reminding my child to bring their laptop, charger, and binder to every class every day.
  • Bringing my child to school by 8:50 AM so they have time to arrive in class by 8:55. If I bring my child to school after 8:55 AM, I will come inside the office to sign them in.
  • Making sure that my child attends school every day unless they are sick and sending an excuse note to the office as soon as they return from an absence.
  • Maintaining accurate phone numbers, email addresses, and mailing addresses by updating Campus Portal or notifying the school office.
  • Reviewing and responding as needed to school communications consistently, including emails, call-out messages, report cards, progress reports, permission slips, and letters.
  • Contacting a teacher or administrator if I have any question or concern.
  • Keeping track of my child’s grades, attendance, and behavior information in Campus Portal and class assignments in Schoology. (Account login info provided by the school.)
  • Asking my child about their academic work, their progress, and their feelings regularly.
  • Making every effort to attend school family events, including Open House, parent-teacher conferences, family nights, and athletic and arts events.
  • Reading, understanding, and abiding by this Handbook.
